Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located? When are you open?
Our in-person store is located at The Barras Market at 244 Gallowgate, Glasgow, G4 0TT. You can find us on Sustainable Fashion Row every Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-4PM. For info on events and pop-ups, check out our Instagram, @thecowpeople.
Where are the men’s/women’s boots?
All of our boots are gender-neutral/unisex! We size them according to our size chart, from children’s to UK 13, to ensure standardisation across the board.
Do you carry new or vintage boots?
We focus on high-quality, handpicked vintage boots. Some are older, and a few happen to be brand new.
Where do you source your boots?
We source them from all over! Many come straight from the USA, typically Pennsylvania and Florida. There are pockets of cowboy culture throughout Europe where we source from places like Spain, the Netherlands, and even the UK!
Do you buy vintage?
We are open to buying vintage items in great condition. Feel free to send us a message with photos to cowpeopleinfo@gmail.com.
How do I care for vintage boots?
Cowboy boots are made to last a lifetime, with proper care. Here are tips for everyday and as-needed care to keep you kicking for years to come!
After you wear your boots, brush off dirt and grime before storage. When you store your boots, we recommend stuffing them with an old t-shirt or scarf to hold their shape. Make sure you get to the toe before stuffing the leg!
If you notice the leather looking dry or rough, use a leather cleaner and conditioner. This will help to ensure the leather stays healthy and shiny.
If you notice more serious concerns: the sole wearing thin, a hole in the leather, or discolouration, take your boots to a trusted cobbler. They are experts and are usually able to get your boots looking like new for a low cost.
For more detailed instructions, check out our First Rodeo blog which is coming soon!
I have wide calves - do you have boots to fit?
We prioritise inclusive sizing, including wide calf options! For wide calves, we recommend boots with a deeper V on the leg, softer leather, or a shorter boot. In-store, you can find our wide calf boots marked with a red heart sticker! Every online listing has the boot opening circumference listed for you to compare against your calf measurement. If you have any questions about whether we think a boot is wide enough, come check out our in-person location at the Barras Market to see our selection!
My boots are too big/too small, what can I do?
Boots too big?
You should feel a little lift in the heel with your step. If they feel a bit too big, pop an insole in! Not only will this make the boot even more comfortable, but it’ll help take up some of that space. Working with vintage, we have a lot of tricks up our sleeves to help boots fit their best!
Boots too tight?
First, try different socks. If that doesn’t work, try on the biggest socks you have and put the boot on. Then, use a hair dryer on a low heat setting to gently warm up the leather. Once you’ve stretched them a bit, try them on with thinner socks and see how much room you’ve got now! Please note, once you stretch the boots, they are no longer returnable.
What brands/sizes do you carry?
We stock all the best brands from Sancho, Loblan, Ariat, Justin, Frye, Old West, Corral, R Soles, Lucchese, Dan Post, and more! All of our boots are second-hand or vintage, so we are able to carry a wide variety of brands, styles, and sizes. Our sizes range from children’s to UK13/EU48, both in-store and online. If you’re unsure of what size to get, check out our boot size guide!
What is your return/exchange policy?
We want you to love your vintage cowboy finds! If something doesn’t work out, we accept returns or exchanges in-store or by mail within 14 days of receiving your item. Items must be unworn, in the same condition as sold, and with original tags.
We understand that gifts sometimes take a little longer. If you're ordering something as a gift, let us know! We can extend the 14-day window at our own discretion, as long as your item is still in excellent condition.
For online returns, please email us at cowpeopleinfo@gmail.com.
How long does shipping take?
We ship out parcels once a week, and processing can take up to 7 business days. Allow 3-4 business days for UK shipping and up to 6 business days for EU shipping.
What shirt/jacket size am I?
All of our clothes are unisex and come from different places. To make things easy, we resized everything according to our own size chart! Since shirts and jackets are mostly straight from pit to seam, your size is based on your chest measurement. Clothes in your size should close over your chest measurement. Feel free to size down if you want to wear the shirt/jacket open!
Please Note: All items are sized according to this size guide. There may be some variation between garments. If the garment is a shirt/jacket with little to no difference between chest and waist measurements, the size is based on the chest measurement. Each listing has the garment measurements, which we recommend consulting before purchase.
What boot size am I?
Just like our clothing, all of our boots are unisex and come from different places. To make things easy again, we resized everything according to our own size chart to be true to size! Not sure what size you are? Check out our boot size guide below!
How to Measure Your Foot
Get a piece of paper and pencil/pen.
Put the paper on the floor and step on the paper. With the pencil/pen straight, mark where the back of your heel and the tip big toe are on the paper.
Measure the distance between your heel and toe and compare that to the size guide!
